The Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,200-acre educational theme park dedicated to the horse.

The Horse Park hosts more than 60 of the nation's finest horse shows and events each year, including an Olympic level competition– the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, held in April.

Visitors to the Park can enjoy a variety of horse-related experiences:

  • Meet and greet horses living at the Horse Park, including the highest money-earning horse in the world, the Thoroughbred racehorse, Cigar, winner of more than $10 million
  • Enjoy the horse through sculptures throughout the property, including the bronze statue marking the grave of the legendary Man O' War
  • Visit exhibits in the International Museum of the Horse
  • Appreciate the horse through the spectacular film, Thou Shalt Fly Without Wings, which shows several times a day in the Visitors Center

Visitors may also take a self-guided farm tour through the barns and visit the farrier's work area and the tack shop.

From mid-March through October, the color, sound, and excitement of the show ring are captured twice daily in the Parade of Breeds. The half-hour presentation highlights the unique characteristics of some of the Park's 40 different breeds. After the show, visitors have an opportunity to meet and pet their favorite horses, and talk with the riders.

At the Hall of Champions, legendary horses representing Thoroughbred, Standardbred and Quarter Horse racing are presented three times a day.

A horse-drawn streetcar, carriage, or a ride on horseback offers an excellent chance to see the Park's extensive horse show facilities. The indoor arena, steeplechase course, polo fields, and numerous dressage and show rings host more than 60 of the nation's finest horse shows and events each year. Visit the Horse Park online.

The International Museum of the Horse is the largest and most comprehensive museum in the world dedicated to telling the intriguing story of the horse and its relationship with man.

Throughout 5,000 years of domestication, no animal has had a more significant impact on human history than the horse. From the tiny first horse, eohippus, to the profusion of different breeds and equine activities that exist today, the Museum traces the history of man's most steadfast partner with an exciting array of artifacts and exhibits. The 52,000-square foot museum also supports a comprehensive education program, which annually hosts more than 32,000 school children, a 3,000-volume research library, and an extensive special exhibitions complex.

The Museum's website has more than 1,000 pages of information, including the complete text from the Museum's exhibits. Hundreds of photographs are now available to school children, scholars and horse lovers throughout the world.

The International Museum of the Horse is ever changing in its effort to interpret the story of the horse and humans. Thanks to the generous donations and support from hundreds of horsemen and horse enthusiasts, the Museum continues to expand and enhance its collections and exhibits to tell its fascinating story.
