Symposium
The Kentucky Horse Park is proud to host the Kentucky Horse Park Dressage Symposium on April 16-18. This year's program, "Overview of Classical Dressage Education of the Horse and Rider" features Germany's Conrad Schumacher, as well as Kathy Connelly and newcomer Juan
Matute. This world-class symposium is being presented by Dressage Today and EquiSearch.com.
Conrad Schumacher has coached European champions, Olympic medalists, world champions, and his students have won over 40 international medals. This will be Mr. Schumacher's first public appearance since the highly successful inaugural symposium in 2002. During that symposium, Mr. Schumacher focused on the training and development of the horse. In 2004, the development of the rider will also be stressed. His ongoing training of Advanced Young Riders for the United States Dressage Federation program shows his belief in the importance of rider education.
Kathy Connelly, an accomplished trainer, coach, and judge will be using the method of "long lines" to demonstrate the development of the horse. As a student of Herbert Reibein, she mastered this technique and will be explaining how this method impacts the training of the horse.
The Kentucky Horse Park is proud to introduce Juan Matute in his first national symposium.
Regarded as a sought-after expert in his native country of Spain, he teaches the three "P's"--Piaffe, Passage, and Pirouettes. During the last year, Mr. Matute has coached extensively in Florida and has been dubbed the "secret weapon of the greats."
Sue Blinks Clinic
Olympic Medalist Sue Blinks will conduct a two-day clinic April 14-15 prior to the symposium.
Along with the symposium, there will be a large trade fair. All of the activities, including the trade fair, will take place in the covered arena.
